Having actually had to work polls for at least one presidential election and having worked non-presidential elections too I can follow Justice Kavanaugh's reasoning quite easily. There isn't really anything wrong there. Elections are messy things to consider. The justice is no stranger to elections and highlights the contemporary mechanics of the voting system actually pretty well. What we often forget is that we have 50 states and 50 voting systems in our country.

I'm on standby reserve for this election in the event an already-scheduled pollworker gets sick and their spot has to be filled. Next Tuesday may be exciting and I'm looking forward to it. The last presidential election I worked was Romney vs. Obama.

I'm glad to hear that.  But there were very specific errors of fact called out (in that TPM article and by others).  If those were not actually mistakes on Kavanaugh's part, I'd love to understand how.
