My employer is now looking for new members for the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel here: https://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Seeks-Volunteers-for-Taxpayer-Advocacy-Panel-through-May-16

I strongly encourage you to apply. I will write a letter of recommendation if necessary.

UPDATE

After originally posting this, the news release went up for IRS Seeks Applications for the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee which happens to be the one that fiddles with e-filing issues. You can nominate yourself or others can nominate you. I would, of course, await your consent before writing up a nomination. A project for folks to draft separate nominations for you to help promote F/LOSS in administering US taxes would be wonderful even though I couldn't spearhead it.

Argh! I just saw this and it seems while the other Panel is still open, ETAAC specifically has closed its deadline.

Is it worth applying late to ETAAC? Should I apply to the regular Advocacy panel instead?
