Definitely the biggest criticism we've gotten this year, as with last year, is with the MediaGoblin campaign video's audio. I should re-render with the voice louder is one thing. Definitely true.
One thing that I think people have mixed reactions to is that the campaign video has a very over the top voice acting. As Fry said on Futurama at one point, "Whoa, that guy's acting... he just pulled a real Shatner!" That's kind of what I was going for in a sense. But if you aren't picking up that that's the joke, well then, it's not a joke. I think I realized this towards the end of the campaign video's production, but there really was just not enough time to re-record. So much time went into that damn video. It's hard to do everything.
The good news though is most of the comments are that the audio quality is in contrast to the video quality. And I have no experience with audio work. Also 0 budget. Considering all that, I think things went wonderfully.
And most people seem to think likewise anyway (or better, plenty of comments of excitement about the video), it's just hard for me to not overthink the criticisms. :)

Off topic: I noted that the top 'donate' button on the support mediagoblin page simply reloads the page instead of going to the form (have to use the bottom one). I get it's prolly templated but maybe put a "donate now" or whatever button under it or something so it's not confusing (looks like maybe the page is broken).
@aether Thanks!
And I saw your comment about that on IRC, fixed!

Yeah irony is a delicate balance. I've never seen a piece of irony that hasn't been misunderstood by at least some people :-)

When I was translating the captions, I was thinking about the pity of all the people that wouldn't be able to catch the original 'theatral acting style', due to the need of focusing in reading… then, for one second, I thought to try to record a dubbing, but then I said to myself “forget it Laura, you have some acting skills and you love MediaGoblin, but it's not possible to repeat that mix of humour, awesomeness and passion!”
Kudos Chris #sendingGoodVibrations
