A bit extreme of a headline, but the article makes good sense: you'll make a much bigger difference by donating to food shelters directly. They can get better deals, are sure to get useful staples, won't have to sort your stuff, and logistics are way easier.

That's what the food banks and shelters around here have been saying. The nice thing about it is that donating money is even easier than donating food! :)
