@samwwwblack@identi.ca Thanks for posting that.. So basically GPL licensed == no need to recompile, Permissive licence == must recompile.. What a huge pain for anyone trying to make a downstream distro. Now they'll have to build a script to figure out the licenses and re-compile all those under permissive. Like I said really dickish and anti-community move IMHO

However, even if the binaries are from GPL'd code, there's no guarantee Canonical won't come after you anyway, as there's a fairly broad "We reserve the right to throw lawyers at you" clause.
