"publishers" .. which publishers?
everyone should make sure that anything trying to mislead politicians or showing signs of any other such corrupt behaviour never gets a cent. do not buy from them, do not use, promote or even mention their products. send them bankrupt.
look for honest alternatives and do support them when possible (do it *directly* and make sure no sleazy intermediaries engaging in corrupt behaviour gain anything - also don't take any ridiculous risks regarding payments - make it clear that user safety is important)
also .. start making - make anything where there aren't at least a few independent alternatives - preventing cartel-building needs to be a priority!
make it clear that freedom of choice is important and that anything taking that away by any sleazy hidden means won't be tolerated.
users need to stand up for their freedom of choice
