I remmeber two years ago or so I read aout your encryptiton protocol. It wasn't still mature and the cryptography was based in the mobile phone number. Have it improved since then?
Thanks for your job! :p
@evanarkisto you can use Kontalk legacy apk from here: https://kontalk.raunz.name/files/Kontalk-legacy-2.2.9.apk
It will install a new app identical to Kontalk 2.2.9 called "Kontalk legacy" that you can use to chat with 2.x users and testing the new beta in the meantime.
@leviatan89 here is our encryption methods used in 3.0 right now and future plans: https://github.com/kontalk/specs/wiki/Encryption
The old method was crappy as you said :-)

I installed Kontalk legacy and it just works like 3.x beta version: It doesn't show 2.x contacts and if I invite them it sends a message directing them to Google Play, which has 2.x version.
Maybe I misunderstood Kontalk's XMPP capabilities: I thought it could work as XMPP client and I would be able to talk with other XMPP contacts outside the Kontalk network.

Replicant had flagged privacy on Kontak legacy so it couldn't access any of my contacts. I flagged it off and it can access 2.x contacts now.
