Trying to resurrect my laptop :(

Laura Arjona Reina at

After dissasembling, installing a new hard drive, and reassembling, about 1/3 of the keyboard is not working, including enter and space #snif

Not sure about what to do, apart of dissasembly again and resettle the keyboard connection. I did several times and some keys worked then, but others are still dead :(

Notebook keyboard connectors usually have #levers at both ends that need to be pulled up to losen the connector cable and pushed down after reassembly and re-insertion af the cable. You didn't happen to ignore these levers (like I did once)?

Thank you for the answers and the support!

Sorry, I didn't understand “a close by hackerspace”

I didn't ignore the levers, but I think I'll try again to settle well the cable when I'm back at home, since some keys resurrected after trying several times, e.g. F10 (yay, BIOS!), but not F11 nor Enter, nor space and others :(

If that does not work, I don't know what to do, maybe buying a keyboard and making this little laptop (i386 Atom, 1GB RAM) my home server (I decided to go selfhosting in 2014, but still didn't look anything about hardware, and my budget is low).

No PC at home though, this is/was my only computer :(

A hackerspace is a place where hackers meet to do hardware or software hacking projects, like Umea Hackerspace in Sweden (they happen to run a GNUsocial instance) https://social.umeahackerspace.se/ . In many cities there are hackerspaces, and these ppl may have an idea to help you. Perhaps they have some old unused USB keyboards and can give you one. --- Another idea may be to look at eBay for a replacement keyboard. I once bought an original spare keyboard for my notebook for €15. --- Yet another idea is to order a replacement keyboard at a spare parts dealer like this http://www.ipc-computer.es/piezas-de-repuesto/tecladoen

... but pls watch out for shipping costs - this spare parts dealer is located in Germany. There are certainly shops like this in Spain, too.
