1.- Who are you in the pumpiverse?

Well, I'd say I'm just this regular user, but I happen to also be the developer of Dianara, one of the Pump.io clients available for desktop systems, and a pretty dedicated 'evangelist' of Pump.io, so... well, that's me in the pumpiverse! That annoying guy always asking people to post notes with titles (there's a reason for that!)

2.- How was life on the Internet before pumping?

Well, I used identi.ca before it was a Pump.io server (I couldn't have this account now otherwise), so life... came in smaller doses. No, but seriously, as I wasn't developing a client back then, and the system itself was more limited, I was a lot less involved. Also, I wasn't on any proprietary/silo networks, nor am I now. I was, and still am, a constant Jabber/XMPP chatter. I was on Diaspora for a while, but (no flamewar intended) I stopped using it in favor of Pump.

3.- And now? How did pump.io change your digital life?

Now I have a pretty decent understanding of how this works on the technical level, and the problems people face with this system. I spend quite a lot of time helping newcomers and developing my Pump.io application, hoping both things can help Pump.io grow!

4.- Why do you follow so many people? (840 right now!)

Mainly to help. The way Pump.io works at the moment, many people register accounts to try it out, but without really understanding what it is or how it works. There's a lot of work to do in Pump.io itself to make it more accessible to newcomers. To help with that, I started this user guide: https://github.com/e14n/pump.io/wiki/User-Guide, with a basic introduction, and pointers to other people's nice guides and explanations. In the meantime, I follow any new users I find (when one of the people I follow starts following them, or via PPump, etc.) so when they post questions about how to use it, or how to find people, etc, I can answer, and point them to more people and to those guides.

Also, thanks to the very nice "Meanwhile" feed, just the fact that I start following someone, means that my followers can find them and start following them too. The whole thing helps newcomers greatly.

And last but not least... you never know, the next random user might be really interesting =)

5.- A pump.io note/image/activity that you liked very much

I don't recall any specific post but I've seen several posts talking nicely about Dianara and showing appreciation for it. Those are always nice. Also, some of Evan Prodromou's notes talking about Pump's progress or objectives, which are often popular with lots of comments and shares.

6.- Make a wish

Well, if it's just one... I hope there's great success with the W3C's SocialWG, currently trying to design common patterns and protocols for the different free/open/federated networks we have, so they all can interoperate together for real. It'd be amazing if that can become a reality.

7.- Tell me who to interview now

I'd say people like @jpope or @sazius are a must. Or yourself, but I guess that's not an option! =)

@Adrián Perales would be a great choice if you want a purely-non-developer perspective.

1.- ¿Quién eres tú en el pumpiverso?

Bueno, diría que sólo soy este usuario normal, pero ocurre que también soy el desarrollador de Dianara, uno de los clientes de Pump.io disponibles para sistemas de escritorio, y un 'evangelizador' dedicado de Pump.io, así que... bien, ¡ese soy yo en el pumpiverso! Ese tipo molesto que siempre pide a la gente que publique con títulos (¡hay una razón para ello!)

2.- ¿Cómo era tu vida en Internet antes de pumpear?

Bien, usaba identi.ca antes de que fuera un servidor Pump.io (de otra manera no podría tener esta cuenta), así que la vida... venía en dosis pequeñas. No, en serio, como no estaba desarrollando un cliente entonces, y el sistema en sí era más limitado, estaba mucho menos implicado. Además, no estaba en ninguna red propietaria/silo, ni lo estoy ahora. Era, y todavía soy, un conversador constante en Jabber/XMPP. Estuve en Diaspora un tiempo, pero (sin acritud) dejé de usarla en favor de Pump.

3.- ¿Y ahora? ¿Cómo ha cambiado pump.io tu vida digital?

Ahora entiendo bastante bien cómo esto funciona a nivel técnico, y los problemas que la gente encuentra con este sistema. Paso mucho tiempo ayudando a la gente que llega nueva y desarrollando mi aplicación Pump.io, ¡esperando que ambas cosas ayuden a Pump.io a crecer!

4.- ¿Por qué sigues a tanta gente? (ahora mismo, ¡840!)

Principalmente para ayudar. Muchas personas registran cuentas para probar la manera en la que Pump.io funciona en este momento, pero sin entender realmente qué es, o cómo va. Hay mucho trabajo que hacer en el propio Pump.io para hacerla más accesible a los nuevos usuarios. Para ayudar a ello, comencé esta guía de usuario: https://github.com/e14n/pump.io/wiki/User-Guide, con una introducción básica, y punteros a las buenas explicaciones y guías de otra gente.

También, gracias al «feed» "Mientras tanto", que está muy bien, sólo el hecho de seguir a alguien, significa que mis seguidores pueden encontrarle y empezar a seguirle también. Todo esto ayuda mucho a los nuevos usuarios.

Y por último, aunque no es una cosa menor... nunca se sabe, el siguiente usuario aleatorio puede ser realmente interesante =)

5.- Una nota/imagen/actividad de pump.io que te gustó mucho

No recuerdo ningún envío específico, pero he visto varios envíos hablando muy bien sobre Dianara y mostrando aprecio. Eso siempre está bien. También, algunas de las notas de Evan Prodromou hablando de los progresos de Pump o sus objetivos, que suelen ser populares, con muchos comentarios, y muy compartidas.

6.- Pide un deseo

Bueno, si sólo es uno... Espero que haya un gran éxito con el grupo de trabajo SocialWG del W3C, que actualmente está intentando diseñar patrones y protocolos comunes para las distintas redes libres/abiertas/federadas que tenemos, para que puedan interoperar cojuntamente de verdad. Sería estupendo si eso pudiera hacerse realidad.

7.- Dime a quién entrevisto ahora

Diría que personas como @jpope o @sazius son obligadas. O a tí misma, ¡aunque supongo que eso no es una opción! =)

@Adrián Perales sería una gran elección si quieres una perspectiva de alguien que no es desarrollador.
