what's truly amazing is that you knew the friend's phone number to tell. AFAICT most people these days don't even know the phone numbers assigned to their personal tracking devices, any more than the IP addresses assigned to them ;-/
I don't have any contact list on my phone. When I need to dial someone, I just dial their number. This has advantages and disadvantages :-).
