hitting a 4GB max file size limit (due to vfat intrinsic limitations) is just unbelievable in 2015

It is, but FAT32 is preferable to exFAT

It's really disappointing that there is still no good, non-proprietary filesystem supported well on Linux, OSX and Windows.

I hit it on my phone while recording video and it caused all sorts of problems
