Maybe sparing a potential existential crisis to someone: in a month the Nintendo Wii will be a decade old. Maybe the real date will hit you less hard now, if it was going to hit you at all. Time passes!

As it turns out, that's also the last proprietary console I bought (and last "platform" I bought proprietary games for). I haven't gotten rid of my old systems but I decided not to buy new ones.

The free software world's gaming offerings are not really that great. I'd like to see them be better.

I still have a SEGA Dreamcast in my living room... and a SEGA Genesis...

Here I am, just recovering from the fact that git is 11 years old. And then you hit me with this.

Games are the place where I came up with an rationalization for using commercial software.

Though... when looking for games to play with my kid I did find this series of games on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/283960/ They have an
interesting block at the bottom of the "About this game" page.

"This product uses ScummVM across Windows, Mac and Linux which is released under the GNU GPL v2."

And they're even quite compliant, the steam install image includes a Source directory with what appears to be the ScummVM source.
