My current active account is over at steve@hub.polari.us - please interact with me there! I use this account for emergencies, like when the storms in Texas knock out power to the servers in my house...! (this happens a LOT).

For a moment there, I thought your server was built like the Voyager, from ST:VOY, with bio-gelpacks xD

clickbait
I think all I ever see on facebook is a bunch of clickbait links, gah! just awful.

I know I am, like, the last federated social network user/developer to realize this but: FB truly sucks. It has no apps anymore except games; its constant API changes have killed projects like fbcmd; there is no way to bridge it to other networks without paying. I have actually functionally stopped using FB completely.
same here. I log in occasionally to check on updates from family and friends, and rarely do anything else on there.
it really sucks.
Exactly. I check on family from time to time, respond to some comments, but otherwise I barely care about FB. Once bridging was lost, I lost the ability to broadcast status messages across networks and I refuse to post a bunch of times to a bunch of networks. I don't mind carrying out conversations across networks, but I can't stand posting the same thing across networks.
Anyway, as far as I am concerned FB is as functional and useful as G+ as a platform... that is, not at al; functional.

Here in the past day and a half I've grilled breakfast, lunch and dinner while camping. For the first dinner back home, I'm grilling pork chops...

I guess if the whole thing freezes up you probably can't ssh into it, huh?
setup an arduino or raspi or something to switch off and on the surge protector with the GPIO pins maybe? may have to hook up a relay in place there, but shouldn't be too bad to actuate that simple switch

Beach trip pics
Here on my GMG are a bunch of pictures from my beach trip around the Wilmington, NC area.
It's not too many since most of the ones I took have my kids in them. We went to a zoo, obviously the beach, Civil War Fort Fisher, and the USS North Carolina battleship/floating memorial.
Here's a picture of a pelican:

this wikipedia article on the USS North Carolina (BB-55) is also pretty good and has a lot of detail.
Better laid out than the memorial website, IMO.
here's a video of the black leopard pacing. I had to upload to youtube since my GMG is having a problem with video right now for some reason
