You've got to be kidding me! :D Just that one command, I've got to go do that now! And this is not just the X60, this is also the X60s? I know that's what the two of us have, and it works for you? :D
Yep that's it, subject to the caveats explained in that page I linked to. The whole issue is that a sane default value needs to be put in a register on the GPU.
Then the i915 kernel module picks it up and the intel_backlight works. I understand that a future version of libreboot will handle this automatically when booting and resuming from suspend/hibernate, permanently solving the matter.
