Last opportunity for MS Windows
My husband's laptop hard disk died two days ago. It was running the preinstalled Windows 7 (Acer Aspire 5250), and couldn't wake up from hibernation. Disk read errors everywhere, it seems unrecoverable.
I have replaced the harddisk with one from other died laptop (motherboard was dead, long story). That other laptop was an Acer Aspire One with dual boot Win7+Android preinstalled.
The Windows tries to start, but it throws a BSOD (normal, I suppose, different hardware).
I've tried the repair options that the own windows offers, with no luck (I'm still to meet somebody who successfully repaired Windows using any of them).
I'll try the Acer factory settings (this laptop is an Acer as the first body of the harddisk, who knows).
This is the last opportunity for Windows to stay at this house.

Have you tried mounting the drive externally on a linux machine? At least, that might let you recover the data.
Just curious!
