La buena noticia es que he conseguido que mi hijo supere el miedo a la bici 'grande' (20”) y monte alegre y sin caerse.

La mala noticia es que mientras le ayudaba, el viento tiró mi bici, y la 'guía' del cambio trasero se ha doblado del golpe.

No sé si podré repararla yo sola, he visto vídeos pero no tengo experiencia ni herramientas, y quizá es más seguro que la repare alguien que sepa. Veremos.

The good news is that I managed to encourage my son ti overcome his fears about the 'big' (20”) bicycle, and now he rides happily and without falling.

The bad news is that meanwhile I was helping him, the wind threw down my bike, and the hit twisted the cage of the rear derailleur.

I don't know if I can repair it myself, I've watched some videos but I have no experience nor adequate tools, and maybe it's safer that somebody skilled repairs it. We'll see.

Sorry to hear about the wind throwing down your bike, though.

For your safety, I do encourage you to have it repaired by a professional. Of the ones I've seen, the derailleur is a rather complicated machine, and even if only the cage of it is affected, an improper repair could mean that you lose your chain at a bad time, and that could result in your falling.

I'm not sure what the bike/car traffic situation is like for you, but in the USA where I live, cars and bikes operate too close together for my comfort. I'm constantly worried about a collision between car and bike, and I know one person who was severely injured (hospitalized for >1month) as a result of one such collision.

Sorry to be a "killjoy", but I'd hate to have something bad befall you.
