I wouldn't use Debian either, for much the same reason (trademark bullshit)
I'm not sure I'd use Mageia purely because it's ecosystem is smaller than, say, Fedora's.

@samwwwblack@identi.ca what does this mean for #Trisquel going forward? Or does #Trisquel already recompile all packages (I was under the impression they only recompiled ones they modified).
What trademark issues are there with Debian?
They have a policy, but it is quite permissive (it even permits commercial usage on merchandise)
