I just set up Andstatus on my Android. Might start using pump.io more regularly.

Richard Heinberg's latest book burst the latest financial bubble building around the claims that fracking can protect us from the implications of oil decline:

So this is pump.io. Seems to be modelled roughly on G+ in the same way its predecessor, StatusNet, was modelled on Twitter. The UI is much less cluttered, and busy, the character limit is gone, and the ability to address messages to particular groups of people has been added. I like this, and I suspect I will be using Identi.ca much more as a result.2013-08-19T09:03:31Z via Identi.ca Web To: Public CC: Followers
Google drops XMPP support for Hangouts. A big step backwards for a company which won a lot of kudos of the last decade for paying a lot of lip service to "open standards".http://windowspbx.blogspot.co.nz/2013/05/hangouts-wont-hangout-with-other.htmlNow they've dropped Hangouts and replaced it with new chat system called Allo and Duo. I presume none of these are federated. What the hell is going on in the goOgle-verse? https://lifehacker.com/google-spins-off-hangouts-and-hopes-the-rest-of-us-just-17931329012013-08-19T08:57:25Z via Identi.ca Web To: Public CC: Followers
