- Finally replaced my broken #seeks node. It’s now running #searx (links: about - source). Currently at https://seeks.jpope.org, gonna do something different with the url sometime soon.
Also, as a bonus, the android seeks app (FDroid link) works great with it. :DArthur Lutz, Douglas Perkins, Blaise Alleyne, Stephen Michael Kellat and 6 others likes this.

Show all 6 repliesUnless you have a fairly beefy machine that does nothing else, the resource-consumption of #YaCy will bring your computer to a standstill. (Which is why I am not currently running YaCy. It often pinned the VPS's CPU during crawl and index cycles.)
Hopefully, once I have a YaCy-capable machine, I can use it with something like Searx or Seeks.I've tried YaCy and haven't been too impressed with the search results. And being a java application, it's waaaay to resource intensive for any boxes that I have access too.

The seeks project is pretty well dead and searx is quite active currently. Also, I've had a hard time getting seeks to compile and run on either Arch or CentOS7 for the past 8-12 months.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Searx is based in python instead of C++ like Seeks. Much more "hackable" in my opinion. ;)

Two other things: I replaced the main Bitcoin client with Electrum (40Gb). And I got rid of Sparkleshare (20Gb of .git overhead).Arthur Lutz, X11R5, Mike Linksvayer likes this.
