Don't overestimate the flexiility of the people.
Hi, can you give us an idea of the difference between the two kind of servers (proc, ram, ...) and the reason of such difference ? Would be happy to learn about it !

Well, I followed the Mozilla's guide on internationalizing node.js apps (Thanks Mozillians!) in my local pump.io test installation and I could extract strings, transform them in json, but failed in putting the js code that handles everything in the correct place.
I just updated the issue #502 with the details.
I think we're almost there, we just need a little help of somebody knowing a bit of node.js to put the already-written-code in the correct file and place.
Once we get i18n working, I can pull request all the modifications in the code required to transform the strings in "gettext strings", and translators will work with traditional .po files so it will be easy to localize the web UI.

- Diaspora (project went through some hardships, but seems to be coming through it all now)
- Friendica
- LiberTree (interesting, privacy-focused, but only a few "trees" known to exist)
- Tent (after recent version upgrade, communication with older versions lost)
- PumpIO (conversations are difficult)
- BuddyCloud (still very alpha, so prone to suddenly become unusable for long periods)

No, I don't have any special tools or techniques, other than minimize scrollback. These networks present themselves as a stream of updates, so I try not to go back in time.
