Hooray for more cooperation and less proliferation!Similarly, we would like to work closely with librecore, another project working to deblob coreboot, whose team includes Damien Zammit. Once librecore matures, libreboot plans to switch to librecore in lieu of our current deblobbed fork. That is, there will be less duplication of effort; instead of competing with librecore, libreboot will complement it.

I'm not touching this project. After the fireworks that happened, I don't want to be involved with it. It is good to see that there is new management although the issue of substance abuse being addressed openly disturbs me greatly.
After the dramatic break from the FSF, frankly I still want to stand back and "observe only". Lability can be a liability.Astronomy Picture of the Day for 2017-03-31 12:30:01.646912

3D 67P
Image Credit: ESA, Rosetta, MPS, OSIRIS; UPD/LAM/IAA/SSO/INTA/UPM/DASP/IDA - Stereo: D.Romeuf, G.Faury, P.LamyExplanation: Get out your red/cyan glasses and gaze across the surface of Churyumov-Gerasimenko, aka Comet 67P. The stereo anaglyph was created by combining two images from the Rosetta spacecraft's narrow angle OSIRIS camera taken on September 22, 2014. Stark and jagged, the 3D landscape is found along the Seth region of the comet's double-lobed nucleus. It spans about 985 x 820 meters, pocked by circular ridges, depressions, and flattened areas strewn with boulders and debris. The large steep-walled circular pit in the foreground is 180 meters in diameter. Rosetta's mission to the comet ended in September 2016 when the spacecraft was commanded to a controlled impact with the comet's surface.

King of Wings Hoodoo under the Milky Way
Image Credit & Copyright: Wayne Pinkston (LightCrafter PhotographyExplanation: This rock structure is not only surreal -- it's real. The reason it's not more famous is that it is, perhaps, smaller than one might guess: the capstone rock overhangs only a few meters. Even so, the King of Wings outcrop, located in New Mexico, USA, is a fascinating example of an unusual type of rock structure called a hoodoo. Hoodoos may form when a layer of hard rock overlays a layer of eroding softer rock. Figuring out the details of incorporating this hoodoo into a night-sky photoshoot took over a year. Besides waiting for a suitably picturesque night behind a sky with few clouds, the foreground had to be artificially lit just right relative to the natural glow of the background. After much planning and waiting, the final shot, featured here, was taken in May 2016. Mimicking the horizontal bar, the background sky features the band of our Milky Way Galaxy stretching overhead.

The Git Parable
Git is a simple, but extremely powerful system. Most people try to teach Git by demonstrating a few dozen commands and then yelling “tadaaaaa.” I believe this method is flawed. [...]
The following parable will take you on a journey through the creation of a Git-like system from the ground up. Understanding the concepts presented here will be the most valuable thing you can do to prepare yourself to harness the full power of Git...Freemor likes this.

I don't remember if I asked this before, but why did you choose (Mandrake/Mandriva/)Mageia?

Initially, because it was, IMHO, the best GNU distribution for beginners. I was no beginner, but I figured, I should know such a system well, if I was to recommend it and install it to other (newbie) people.
So I made it my main system, and over a decade has gone by =)
Nowadays, in its "Mageia incarnation", there's the added bonus of being a community-based distribution. Back in the day it was managed by a community-friendly company, but still a company.
Since, besides being newbie-friendly and community-based, it works really well, I've had zero reasons to change ;)

Thanks for your answer. I'm gonna share why I chose (open)SUSE:
I must confess that when I started learning and testing GNU/Linux the main distributions I knew where Red Hat, Mandrake and SuSE (I don't remeber if I knew Debian existed or if it seemed too complicated to install the GUI). I didn't want to depend on an USAmerican distribution, and because of historical rivalry with France I didn't want a french distribution either. So I chose the german distribution: SuSE 7.2.
It was a pain in the ass to install any program, searching for the rpm for the program I wanted to install, that depended on another package I had to search and install, and so on. I was about to switch back to Windows but I didn't want to hear my colleages mocking at me (I was the "free software advocate" in the company), so I kept with SuSE.
That experience gave me quite confidence with the distribution and I don't remeber in what version everything seemed easier to me. I still continued testing Mandrake, Red Hat and other distributions (*BSD, for instance) once in a while but SuSE seemed to me the one with more programs preinstalled for the regular user, and it seemed easy for newbies as well.
There was a moment of uncertainty when Novell acquired SuSE, but when it became a community distribution named openSUSE everything went better and better. That was the moment when I started to recomend to my family and friends to instal openSuSE, and those who accepted are happy with their choice.
And now with a rolling distribution as openSUSE Tumbleweed I'm more than happy.

So the new GitHub Terms of Service might be giving up your rights. Joey Hess on removing all repos from GitHub.
Nobody seems 100% sure I've talked to? It seems worrying. At least one person seems to read it as moral rights only, but I dunno.

The real question for me is, which service should I switch to? GitLab? Bitbucket? I mainly use GitHub because of the network effect, so the popularity of the replacement would be a factor.

Moral rights? That's the part of the copyright you usually cannot give up, in the countries that have them.
Anyway, github is becoming a historical parenthesis. Use git-ssb and mirror on some public gitlab/gitea instance.clacke@libranet.de ❌ at 2017-03-02T13:50:30Z
