Editor's Draft of ActivityPub includes tutorial illustrations by @mray and they look omg super great.
Next Candidate Recommendation will include these too, once we get that out.

https://snowdrift.coop is in unannounced but public real-money beta. You can pledge to support the Snowdrift project itself. 49 people have so far. I'm not sure when they'll announce (mention of what's to be done) or presumably later adding other projects but good to see progress.

I read somewhere that it uses ostatus,
so guessing it might be able to talk to gnusocial/statusnet
(possibly also friendica and a few others too)
though not sure if their use of @ in profile urls might mess things up a bit.
do they run their own pubsubhubs?

I gotta say, I'm liking the interface of Mastodon. I never tried Tweetdeck, I guess it's based off of that.
But I also appreciate the energy; conversations are happening quickly, and it feels a lot more like oldschool identi.ca. I guess that's literally true in the underlying tech decision to use ostatus, and thus probably also means connecting to many people who never left that segment of the fediverse.
Some good conversations there today about maybe Mastodon using the ActivityPub standard maybe

Dianara 1.3.7 is out!
Hi there, inhabitants of the pumpiverse! o/
I've just released a new version of Dianara, my Pump.io client for desktop computers.
Not much new, mainly a reworked image viewer that now allows zooming the image with the mouse wheel (or equivalent touchpad mechanism), dragging the image around also with the mouse, shows the zoom level, and actually rotates animated images correctly =)
Besides that,
- Fixed case-insensitive sorting of contacts in auto-completion lists, when typing @ while creating a post. This means that “Person A” will appear next to “person b”, not after “Z-contact”.
- Your server's version will be shown in the log.
As for the future, this will be the last of the 1.3.x series. Next release will be 1.4.0 and will not support Qt 4.x.

is that the planetary system that was mentioned on the news today?
they said something like it had several planets around a "Jupiter-sized" star and a few of them are in the "goldilocks zone"
though guessing for a star that size to do nuclear fusion it would have considerably more mass in it than Jupiter so probably very dense?

Hello everyone! Excited to announce that ActivityPub reached Candidate Recommendation status. Huzzah!
We've also launched an ActivityPub advocacy site at activitypub.rocks!
Now is the time to implement!

"ActivityPub" ?”
You can call it "the federated social web" or whatever you want. ActivityPub is the name of a protocol. Regular people talk about e-mail, not about "POP3", etc.
By the way, I don't recall Diaspora or Friendica people commiting to implement this, but the thought of Twitter and Facebook becoming part of it, is quite amusing xD”You certainly don't seem to understand what I want to say, and most probably I don't understand important facts about "ActivityPub".
The whole point is you CAN'T call it anything you want. Email is the best example. You call it "email", not "digital letters" or "electric post" or whatever.
I seem to be ignorant about what to expect from ActivityPub though: I was hoping to one day ask people if they are on "ActivityPub" to follow them - or not. The way you describe it is like it being some kind of matrix, where it could be possible to have gnusocial and diaspora using activitypub but still being incompatible. If they would be compatible - what would be the point of callig them either way instead of "ActivityPub"?This is a protocol advocacy site. It's aimed at developers, not users.
It's important for both clients and servers to implement HTTP, for example, but users of the web don't need to know what HTTP is.
Hmmm... The "fed-web"... "What's your fed-web account? I'll message you a link for that story I told you about."Charles Stanhope at 2016-11-17T22:18:29Z

So what are developers supposed to do with it? is this an invitation to create a compatible network (like email or the web) with different browsers/clients? If so - how is this different from calling electronic mail (smtp & imap) "email" or internet chat (xmpp) "Jabber". To me it looks like we have a new smtp or xmpp but have no "name" for it. ActivityPub might as well be "ACP".

Curious to see how @Evan Prodromou's fuzzy.ai launch goes. It doesn't look like there's source out there for the project, which might be nice eventually.
But what interests me most is that it seems it's taking an expert systems approach to AI over a machine learning approach. That's nice to see... I think there's a lot of untapped opportunities in that direction!
Good luck, Evan!

Really!, Come on.. it could at least have been "... on Matrix" Tho I'd prefer pump.io or XMPP better.
At least it isn't one of the "The Mainframe is on FIRE!!!!!!!!!" e-mails I would get at work that would indicate a bad day brewing.

“At least it isn't one of the "The Mainframe is on FIRE!!!!!!!!!" e-mails I would get at work that would indicate a bad day brewing.”
That made me LOL.. I have a "The server is running on battery" alert that goes out to e-mail,XMPP, and plays a WAV saying "Help Me!! The server is running on battery" (it's a home server not a co-lo). Which usually end up firing off at about 4am.
So I feel your pain, at least a little.
