Fifteen years ago tomorrow I published the first post on the fediverse.
https://web.archive.org/web/20080618164355/http://identi.ca/notice/1
It's still visible on Identi.ca today, although the URL format changed a few years ago, and the redirect plugin stopped working a few years after that.

Thanks to everyone who made identi.ca a great place to be, and thanks to everyone who's expanded the fediverse since then.
Someday soon-ish I'd like to have identi.ca working with ActivityPub. When I get the time for it!Kamen Nedev, Michele Ann Jenkins, Stephen Michael Kellat, Craig Maloney and 6 others likes this.

Thank you for making all this possible what's happening for all the years. The plan to revive identi.ca is mindblowing. I notice my profile picture is broken. I have to fix that before the launch.ghostdancer, Evan Prodromou likes this.

OK, as I warned earlier, my pump.io server is going down now (in a few minutes): https://sjoberg.fi/blog/pump-shutdown.html.
If you want to get in touch with me, my current contact details can always be found at https://sjoberg.fi/

ActivityPump status?
sazius at 2018-06-16T18:15:31Z
Any progress on pump.io - mastodon compatibility, i.e., ActivityPump support?
I'm asking because I'm looking to shut my server down at some point in the not too distant future. (It's a physical server in my living room, and the only thing it runs anymore is this pump.io instance.)

Yes, pub xD

ActivityPub is a real standard now!
Christopher Allan Webber at 2018-01-23T16:10:02Z
ActivityPub is a W3C Recommendation! Yes! At last! Finally!
Let your social networks be free!
ActivityPub was basically 3 years of my life, and there were points were I wasn't sure if the time and energy I was spending on it was worth it. I'm sure it was today. Thank you everyone who participated in the standards process, have implemented... or are going to implement! You made it all worth it!

On a related note, I stumbled upon a progress report of the FreedomBox project. In it they talk about integrating distributed social networks and in particular about Diaspora and GNU Social. How about someone bringing ActivityPub and accompanying implementations to their attention?

Thanks everyone. The original post was made in response to some very vague criticism of ActivityPub made in the ostatus-sphere that wasn't concrete enough for me to reply to. But the advice to take care of my health and well being is well taken... I haven't been doing it, and the stress has been affecting me. I'll try to do better, and I appreciate everyone being so supportive.

Pump.io social media icon?
sazius at 2017-05-08T19:31:36Z
Is there some "official" pump.io "social media icon" that one can use as a contact link like those "t" and "f" icons people use for popular proprietary social media sites?

cwebber's meta-federation rule
Christopher Allan Webber at 2017-04-29T22:24:34Z
On any federated system with less than a million users, a minimum of one fifth of communication federated through the network will be discussions or debates over communication federating through the network.

@schestowitz@identi.ca Remember that the network has been there for a near decade, it's the same as identi.ca used to be on. Mastodon is just the latest client for it. I'm glad for the attention it's getting, don't get me wrong. I'm just sad that a lot of the publicity I see doesn't give credit where credit is due. Shoulders of giants and all that.
