Thank you for sharing this article providing history and details about cartography and their handling as public good.
Also, I have a question: how do you share posts from Diaspora* to pump.io, and probably the reverse ? I am interested in that :)
I could didn't see anything like that there as pointed by JanKusanagi , but I may not have looked deeply enough: http://pumpio.readthedocs.org/en/latest/clients.html
>> Christophe Schockaert:
“[...] how do you share posts from Diaspora* to pump.io, and probably the reverse ? [...]”
Some people use the spigot tool to auto-post to Pump from their Diaspora RSS feed. I don't think you can auto-post to Diaspora in this way, since they still don't have an API.

Ah, thank you. So it was indeed on the tool page you showed me :)
I was missing the conclusion that could arise from the features...

This is actually something that is in upstream development right now. There's been loads of progress with implementing OpenID Connect and setting up a number of API routes for third-party clients. So, hypothetically it wouldn't be long to officially allow to cross-posting to Diaspora.#StopCISA

Show all 6 replies@Alex Jordan Thanks for your compliments! The old one is still up, though I guess no longer on the site.
@Jason Self I appreciate that! The first video definitely had huge audio problems, which I did my best to cover up, but which are noticable still. The second had a few points where my voice was "swallowed" by the music as well. There are other things... the timing on the eye animation in the second video could be a lot better. But I'm still an amateur, and there's limited time. The things I asked for feedback on, got useful feedback on, then never had the chance to change are the most embarrassing points for me, because I know others could identify them. But I still think that all considered, things went well, I'm still more proud of it than I am sensitive to the flaws.
And watching the first and the second side by side, it's obvious that the second was a big improvement and that I had learned a lot!
I still need to upload all the complete and corresponding source for those videos to archive.org. Still glaring at me from my orgmode agenda...

@Claes Wallin (韋嘉誠) Yes, afaik it's the first example I know of it. The design came out of a conversation with Fateh of http://urchn.org/ fame (Bassam and Fateh of Urchn guided me greatly in the production of those animations, and Fateh also contributed a bunch of ideas to the second animation).
It's probably just zeitgeist, but I do feel like a lot of the ideas we put into the animation have become pretty common in the anti-surveillance materials that are out there. Shortly after the MediaGoblin video first came out, the Internet Defense League also used the "cat massacre" idea, though I think that idea could be easily reinvented.

Surprised that Aptoide and Amazon Appstore weren't in there, those are the only ones I've heard about except for F-Droid and Google Play.@fdroid@identi.ca I really don't think I can trust anything said by an outfit claiming computer expertise that refers to an APK as an "installer". If they don't understand what installs what how can I possibly trust their " undroid" thing. Not to mention that it looks like they just totalled all the "malware" from all sources to get a scary high total that I am sure includes many duplicates. Other then pointing out how clean f-droid is this document is laughable.Freemor at 2015-04-29T00:39:35Z

Change or set the e-mail for your Pump account
Pump.io accounts can have an associated e-mail address, for notifications and password recovery, even if that's not requested when creating the account.
The web interface doesn't yet provide a way to add them later either, but identi.ca users have had e-mail addresses set since the migration from StatusNet to Pump.io, because those addresses were already configured in the StatusNet interface.
So basically the problem is that users of other servers can't set an e-mail, and users of identi.ca can't change their e-mail to a new one. Until now =)
Now the development version of Dianara supports setting your e-mail from the profile editor.
E-mail activity notificacions are not the greatest thing in the world at the moment (they're more useful if people use titles in posts, actually!), but they can be useful, plus having the possibility of password recovery is always nice ;)
This feature has not been very widely tested yet, but I've personally changed this account's e-mail, and set a new one in my other test account @microca.st, without any issues.
Thanks to @Laura Arjona for encouraging me to look into this again! I hope it helps!
Cheers! o/

That doesn't matter, this feature works for everyone, and you get e-mail features as long as the server you use has an SMTP service configured =)
>> sazius:
“Oh, wow. I need to take a look at how to do this for Pumpa.”
If you want I can give you some pointers directly. It basically boils down to creating a basic JSON with "nickname", "email" and "password" fields, and PUTting it (POST might work) to your /api/user/yourusername =)

One Dianara v1.2.5, coming up!
Hi! As planned, here’s a new release of Dianara for the end of the year.
Some of the main new features are the new Mentions and Actions feeds, which are basically the same as the Meanwhile feed, but with only activities addressed to you, and only activities done by you. Then, the expandable labels. Some of the information labels such as the “10 minutes ago” or “7 likes” in posts will expand when clicked, to show extra information. Some parts of that extra information were available previously in tooltips (when hovering with the mouse), but now that extra information might contain clickable links, too, such as user names.
Also, the way of showing when a post got to your timeline via sharing is clearer and more informative, and pasting a link that looks like it’s pointing to an image will ask if you wish to insert it as a regular link or as a visible image.
Check the release blog post for a complete changelog, etc.

I actually like the "Chrome without Google" idea behind the new Opera, but I agree, it's not quite there, feature- wise. There has to be Sync and a Linux version, before I'd consider using it.
Probably the idea is if they don't use the old Opera anyway they could open source it, so the community could continue development Game of... Keyboards?
Now THAT is a nice throne ;)
